Project Overview
Project delivery period: 1st September 2025 – 30th June 2026

The Tolpuddle Built Heritage Skills Hub pilot project has tested the potential of the restored Old Chapel in Tolpuddle to function as a regional centre for traditional building skills, advice and knowledge exchange. Funded through Historic England’s Regional Capacity Building programme, the project delivered a pilot programme of targeted activity focused on owners of historic domestic properties and others responsible for the care of traditional buildings.

Across the delivery period, the project directly contacted approximately 300 local properties through leafleting, posters and social media, and an audience of 000s through a specialist social media site. To date it has engaged approximately twenty four participants through three training sessions and events, demonstrating clear demand for practical, accessible skills development in traditional building methods.

While focused on the immediate local community, the project achieved wider regional reach, attracting participants from surrounding towns and villages and further afield.
