If you missed the Launch of ‘Tolpuddle Family Lives’ on 3rd April, a reminder that we are having a ‘drop-in’ launch on the afternoon of Saturday April 6th, 2pm-4pm. All are welcome to come and have a glass of wine or tea/coffee and we will tell you about what is on offer within this programme, and our other activities and plans.
Out next evening talk will be on Wednesday April 10th at 7pm, about the Chapel itself: ‘The Building in our Midst: A brief history of Tolpuddle Old Chapel and the stories it holds’ by Professor Philip Martin (Chair of TOCT). Philip will describe the Old Chapel’s history and what we know about the people who worshipped there, and its social and religious contexts. What did it mean to be a Methodist in Tolpuddle in the early years of the Chapel’s existence? Why was there such animosity shown towards the Methodists? What were their beliefs and how did their politics stand alongside their religion? These are some of the questions that will be addressed. All welcome, and please register your intention to attend here.
